How the Employee Relocation Council Forms a Network of Certified Relocation Specialists
from:When the Employee Relocation Council forms a chapter office in a city, relocation specialists that live nearby then have the opportunity to take advantage of training seminars and have access to materials that the council prepares. Not only a research and lobbying organization, the Employee Relocation Council forms a network of educational opportunities that are the basis for a series of professional designations, backed up by the authority of its many thousands of members.
The organization, now known as the Worldwide ERC, was formed in the mid-1960s to assist relocation professionals with their work helping executives settle from one location to another. Seen as a very important part of globalizing the highest levels of the workforce, relocation services have become a multi-million dollar industry. The Employee Relocation Council forms chapters today in many of the countries its members are found. The major offices are located at Washington D.C. in the United States and Brussels in the European Union.
Membership is limited to men and women who are already working in the relocation industry. Only members in good standing are allowed to take the training courses that result in additional certifications that can add extra letters to the end of ones name.
The exams that follow these seminars are very comprehensive and cover every possible aspect of corporate relocation. Topics covered center highly around real estate dealings and appraisals. The possibility of loosing money on a relocation transaction is, of course, a major concern to most people considering such a move. As such, there is a great deal of training on this topic made available by the Employee Relocation Council. Forms that outline the contents of the examinations are available on line from the organization's website.
Apart from real estate and banking, there is also the logistics of the actual moving to be dealt with, and examinations cover these topics, too. Just as many permutations of the relocation phenomena occur as do various family and living arrangements, since one is necessarily a reflection of the other.
The exams for certification also focus on the social side of things, with counseling, job location services for spouses, finding schools for children and assisting with the sometimes vastly different culture that those who relocate often find.
When a certified member of the Employee Relocation Council forms a plan for relocation, that plan will encompass every aspect of moving on both the departure and arrival ends, be it personal or financial. As someone who is making a big move, you are guaranteed a competent professional who has passed a very thorough training process.
